New Moon Rising by J.R. Rain & Matthew S. Cox

New Moon Rising (Samantha Moon Origins Book 1)

Mother, wife, federal agent…mortal.

Samantha Moon hadn’t always been a vampire. Once, she had been a wife and mother, happily married to her soul mate and raising two adorable kids. Once, she had been a federal agent investigating a world teeming with sophisticated scams, drugs, human trafficking and violence. She had hippie parents and a caring sister. She had a small home with an irritatingly detached garage. She had friends, colleagues and normalcy.

That is, until she caught the eye of something evil…

But first, she has a job to do. When her HUD team of federal agents is sent in as backup on a drug raid, she spots a mysterious business card on the fridge. Later, she finds the same card during a routine inspection. Convinced the narcotics traffickers are more widespread than initially thought and are taking advantage of those in need, Sam can’t let it go – even after the gang tries to send her a message written in lead.

Yes, her days at the Department of Housing and Urban Development are typically boring, her worst fear, a paper cut, but little does she know that she has attracted the attention of something dark and hungry. Something that’s about to steal her mortal life… and change her forever.

Jellyfish by Lev D. Lewis

Jellyfish: The first crime novel featuring Frank Bale, London’s ‘premier’ private investigator (A Frank Bale Book, Book 1)

If you’re after British crime fiction that’s hard boiled and noir with a touch of black humour, then Jellyfish could be for you – if you’re not, try it anyway.

“Frank Bale. Private Investigator.”
That’s how I always introduce myself. I never add the ‘and Process Server’ bit, though, at times, that would give a truer representation of the facts.

Once a promising young solicitor enjoying the high life in Savile Row suits, Frank Bale now scrapes a living on the mean streets of London, principally working as a process server – with a Marlowe fantasy to keep him going:

I rang the doorbell, still wondering: goon or dame? That was the fantasy, the thought that behind the next door may lurk a goon with a gun or a dame with legs. It brought a frisson of sun-baked Californian menace to the wearying trudge down streets as cold and grey and wet as a drowned man’s shadow, between doors that only opened, if they opened at all, on the desperate and despairing.

When, working into the small hours, Frank discovers a murdered girl in an alley, he can’t believe his luck; stumbling upon a corpse is exactly what happens to the private eyes of fiction. Only this isn’t fiction, and his luck is generally bad, so he decides to simply return home, go to bed, and leave the police to get on with it.

Frank hates the police. Likewise, the police aren’t too fond of him, especially since he’s become the chief suspect in their murder investigation.

It’s not just the police; the entire world seems to have it in for Frank. Even his one-time mentor and friend, Gus, is rapidly going off him, especially since learning of Frank’s assignation with Mrs Knights, the soon to be ex-wife of one of Gus’s long-term clients. And the client, Knights, despises him, especially, and he doesn’t hold back in showing it – with the helping hands (and feet) of a couple of tame thugs.

Feeling battered, both physically and psychologically, Frank decides to fight back, taking on the world in the only way he can, turning his fantasy into action armed with nothing but native guile and intuition.

And the Investigator’s Fallacy: the belief that my native guile and intuition counted.

Haunted by the corpse, finding comfort only in dreams of Mrs Knights, Frank scours South London’s dark nether regions, disturbing the jellyfish that lurk there. And the jellyfish react, striking back at Frank, their choice of weapons accelerating in deadliness: fists to golf clubs to guns.

Can Frank keep himself alive long enough to find the girl’s killer and mete out his own particular style of justice – and arrange a second date with Mrs K?

Jellyfishn.
Any of a number of heartless, brainless creatures of the deep with cannibalistic tendencies and a sting. The stings range from irritating to lethal.
Collective n.Smack

With his debut novel, Jellyfish, featuring Frank Bale with a Philip Marlowe delusion, Lev D. Lewis follows in the PI tradition of Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Ross MacDonald, Robert B. Parker, Kinky Friedman and Laurence Bloch, but adds his very own British twist.

Some Will Not Sleep by Adam Nevill

The least remembered gods still haunt the oldest forests.
Cannibalism occurs in high society at the end of the world.
The sainted undead follow their prophet to the Great Dead Sea.
A confused and vengeful presence occupies the home of a first-time buyer . . .

The Beauty in Darkness by Leah Reise

The Beauty in Darkness: A Vampire Story

On the night of her twenty-ninth birthday, Edrea is brutally murdered. She awakens in her San Francisco studio as a bloodthirsty vampire with no memory of her death. Now undead and with newfound immortal powers, she fights to hold onto her humanity in the face of great darkness. In a seemingly interconnected reality, her guilt-stricken mortal sister, Rena, embarks on a dangerous quest in search of Edrea, whom is believed is merely “missing.”

As they follow their individual roads through life and the un-death, Edrea and Rena learn not only that their sisterly bond is stronger than they thought, but also that their family shares a dark secret that connects both of them to a mysterious quantum world.

This not so ordinary vampire tale will draw you into a journey of love, loss and self-discovery, and intrigue you with a scientific and philosophical theme that will keep you wondering until the end … and maybe even after that.

Review

“Reise delivers a horror filled with satisfying moments of drama and suspense, as well as a sisterly bond that elevates the story to another level … the truth found in the relationship between the two sisters, a sanctuary from the darkness that surrounds them and a glimpse of the beauty that we find in trust, in acceptance, in each other.”
–IndieReader

“Poetic and melancholic, the novel is a cross between True Blood and Interview with the Vampire. This is a coming-of-age vampire tale complete with mystery, romance and suspense that will surely entertain fans of the genre.”
–The US Review Of Books

“From the dank and rugged northern California coastline to the vibrant San Francisco club scene, Leah Reise has created a vibrant and surrealistic world and populated it with relatable characters. Her rookie novel features a sisterly love story, darkly passionate vampires, and rivalries between ancient blood thirsty factions. Freshly undead, Edrea is smart, sexy, and fiercely protective of her baby sister, a girl who looks for and finds trouble behind every iron gate.”
–City To Country Magazine

“What I love about this story, first, is the author’s ability with description. Reise has a gift for painting the scene without over-telling, and still offering enough detail to allow for vivid imagery. … second … that much of it takes place in Sonoma County locations. Reise doesn’t disappoint, taking her characters to Bodega Bay and Santa Rosa, though much of the story is set in San Francisco. … third … how large a role family plays in The Beauty in Darkness. There are definite themes that take place from both Edrea’s old and new life, which I’ll let you find out on your own to avoid any spoilers. All in all, I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys supernatural and vampire fantasy.”

Zhang Zhung Sorcery, The Forbidden Secrets by M.G. Hawking

Zhang Zhung Sorcery, The Forbidden Secrets

Explore the Forbidden Secrets of the Legendary Lost Realm of Zhang Zhung. Revealed in this book is the ancient knowledge of Zhang Zhung, teachings which set forth techniques of powerful elemental magic, or “sorcery.” These teachings are of extreme antiquity, first appearing as part of the lore of the Zhang Zhung culture that arose on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau some 4000 years ago, but believed to have originated far earlier.
Being a forbidden body of knowledge, said to convey enormous powers, the teachings disappear from the historical record for some twenty-six centuries, not to reemerge until the 7th century AD in the arcane scriptures of the ancient pre-Buddhist B’on religion.
Transcribed directly from the archived field notes and journals of explorer M.G. Hawking’s five years in Nepal and Tibet, this book contains detailed narratives of his experiences and extensive conversations with a true sorceress of the Zhang Zhung tradition, providing unprecedented first-hand accounts of her psychokinetic powers and extrasensory abilities, and in-depth descriptions of her lengthy apprenticeship and the teachings that allowed her to acquire such extraordinary abilities. If this type of knowledge interests you, this is a book you will never forget. 2017 Release, 28 Chapters, 42 Subsections, Kindle e-reader page count 346 (estimated, actual count varies with the reading device). Tall, dark and handsome suits me just fine, but the cocky grin, know-it-all attitude, and mammoth ego? No thanks. I only hired him so I wouldn’t have to sit at the singles table again. It was just pretend.

My heart wasn’t supposed to pound.

We’re nothing alike. He’s a daredevil, and I’m a nervous Nellie. He’s a drifter, and I want to put down roots. He’s an opportunist with a checkered past, and I’m a Girl Scout volunteer.

But none of it matters when I’m in his arms.

I know he’s made mistakes. I know his wounds are deep, and he doesn’t trust easily. I know he doesn’t believe he could ever be enough to make me happy, but he could.

The Lost Ark by J.R. Rain

The Lost Ark

In a lonely bar in eastern Turkey, ex-National Geographic photojournalist Sam Ward is hired to find an eccentric professor who disappeared high atop Mount Ararat, fabled resting spot of Noah’s Ark.

Accompanied by the professor’s beautiful daughter, archaeologist Faye Roberts, Sam soon stumbles upon a secret stronghold—a base of operation for unleashing hell on earth.

Now running for their lives, Sam and company are about to come face-to-face with the greatest archaeological discovery of all time….

**Acclaim for the novels of J.R. RAIN**

“Gripping, adventurous, and romantic—J.R. Rain’s THE LOST ARK is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!”
—James Rollins, international bestselling author of ALTAR OF EDEN and THE DOOMSDAY KEY

“I enjoyed MOON DANCE immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she’s trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she’s a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn’t generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness—not of spirit, but of body. ‘You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,’ he tells her. ‘And when I touch you it’s all I can do to not gag.’ She replies, ‘Words every wife wants to hear.’ I love this! She really doesn’t deserve to be frozen out of her marriage, yet his attitude is understandable. In the course of the novel she solves the mystery she is tackling for a client, and finds a new romantic interest. What makes it special are her character and nature. I sure wouldn’t have kicked her out of bed. I recommend it as light reading, odd as that may sound.”
—Piers Anthony, New York Times bestselling author of A SPELL FOR CHAMELEON and ON A PALE HORSE

“MOON DANCE is absolutely brilliant!”
—Lisa Tenzin-Dolma, author of UNDERSTANDING THE PLANETARY MYTHS

“MOON DANCE is a must read. If you like Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, be prepared to love J. R. Rain’s Samantha Moon, vampire private investigator.”
—Eve Paludan, author of LETTERS FROM DAVID

“Impossible to put down. J.R. Rain’s MOON DANCE is a fabulous urban fantasy.”
—April Vine, author of THE MIDNIGHT ROSE

“DARK HORSE is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time! A great classic detective story with a modern twist. Unique and interesting characters (I think I’m half in love with Jim Knighthorse now!), a great plot that kept me guessing until the end, and some of the funniest lines I’ve read anywhere. Rain does an amazing job of blending suspense, mystery and humor in this fantastic debut novel destined for the keeper shelf.”
—Gemma Halliday, award winning author of SPYING IN HIGH HEELS

“I totally loved THE BODY DEPARTED. As someone who communicates with those who are either earthbound or have crossed over—your descriptions and interpretations of the dialogue and circumstances could not have been written more accurately. My favorite scene is the one of Jesus stepping down from the cross and then the passionate and compassionate way it was treated as he went back to the cross. I will relive that for a long time to come. You’re a wonderfully descriptive writer who paints a very creative, visionary canvass based in a paranormal pallet that only a few experience and many can enjoy. Thank you for your talent.”

“An addictive, compelling read that pushed me well out of my comfort zone – if you like disturbingly twisty plot lines and dark characters then this is definitely the read for you.” Lisa Hall, Author of the best selling psychological thriller Between You and Me

“The Optician’s Wife is a stylish, brilliantly crafted thriller which really delivers. Lacey wanted to learn to work with difficult children, however, Camarillo housed some of the most dangerous youngsters in the State of California.

The institution was also as notorious for its scandals as it was for its rambling Mission revival style psychiatric wards.

Soon Lacey discovered that her battle would not be with the children. They rarely assaulted interns and staff members with the kindest of hearts.

No, trouble lurked from someplace far deeper within the asylum. It seemed to ooze from the thick stuccoed walls like black mold in a flooded basement. Surely, the warning signs were there if Lacey could only learn to read them. Or would she become just another casualty in the field of mental health?

A riveting tale with unforgettable characters. Based on a true story.

Until her new job starts in September, buttoned-up elementary school teacher Laurel Harris is at loose ends and in need of cash. Fortunately her best friend’s older brother is a single dad and desperately needs a nanny. Or so she’s told. She doesn’t anticipate him being such a menacing, muscled, and undeniably gorgeous man…or that he has zero interest in hiring a nanny.

He doesn’t need another complication in his life, but the sweet, frustratingly opinionated little blonde hell-bent on caring for his daughter stirs his blood like no woman ever has.

All it takes is a moment of weakness to ignite the lust blazing between them. A moment that will unravel their self-control and unleash all of Micah’s darkest secrets…

Sorcerers of Tibet, The Mystery & Magic by M.G. Hawking

Sorcerers of Tibet, The Mystery & Magic

Discover the Profound Secrets of the Ancient Zhang Zhung Art of True Magic.

From the very threshold of history to the present day, the remote realm of Tibet has been a fabled land of mystery and magic. Secluded from the rest of the world by its topography and isolated setting on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau—the highest in the world, with an average elevation of 16,000 feet—Tibet is home to the forgotten 4000 year-old kingdom of Zhang Zhung, the culture of the original B’on religion.

According to their own historical traditions, B’on was founded by the earliest known Buddha-like master, Shenrab Miwoche. Like Siddhārtha Gautama, our most recent historical Buddha, Shenrab renounced his life as a prince to become a monk, achieved enlightenment, and composed a body of teachings that enable attainment of supreme knowledge and powers, known as the ‘Four Portals.’

A group of highly esoteric teachings setting forth the true nature of physical reality and techniques of powerful elemental magic, the ‘Four Portals’ are of extreme antiquity. The first extant traces of the teachings appear as part of the lore of the Zhang Zhung culture, but they are believed to have originated far earlier. Being an exceedingly restricted body of knowledge, said to convey enormous powers, the teachings disappear from the historical record for some 2600 years, not to reemerge until the 7th century AD in the arcane scriptures of the pre-Buddhist B’on religion in Nepal.

The secret teachings of the ‘Four Portals’ contain enormous amounts of elemental magic, in keeping with their view of the cosmos as a psycho-physical unity, able to be manipulated in heightened states of awareness through clandestine techniques and practices.

These highly esoteric teachings are founded on a profound premise: “The Universe is but a mirage which exists in the mind, springs from it, is controlled by it, and sinks into it.”

To understand this premise in a contemporary context, we may consider the following: “As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of the existence of consciousness. The mind is the matrix of all matter.” —Max Planck, originator of Quantum Mechanics, Nobel Laureate

Consciousness cannot be accounted for in physical terms, for consciousness is absolutely fundamental. It cannot be accounted for in terms of anything else. Quantum physics reveals a basic oneness of the universe. Multiplicity is only apparent; in truth, there is only one mind.” —Erwin Schrödinger, Nobel Laureate

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” —Albert Einstein, Nobel Laureate

Transcribed directly from the archived field notes and journals of explorer M.G. Hawking’s five years in remote Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet, this book contains detailed narratives of Hawking’s experiences and conversations with a true sorceress, a powerful practitioner of the ancient arts of magic.

These narratives provide unprecedented first-hand accounts of her demonstrations of psychokinetic abilities and in-depth descriptions of her apprenticeship and the esoteric knowledge that allowed her to attain such extraordinary abilities.

The Scoop
By now you’re probably aware that the Alex Troutt thrillers, Ivy Nash thrillers, and the soon-to-be-released Ozzie Novak thrillers are all under the same Redemption Thriller Series umbrella. Why? Because, ultimately, they all connect — Alex, Ivy, Ozzie. How? That’s part of the mystery that I’m slowly unveiling throughout the Redemption Thriller Series.

Through each sub-series, characters from different books appear in the other novels. If it adds suspense, intrigue, or even a good laugh, I’ve included a cross-over character — it’s a lot more fun that way. Plus — and here’s the real kicker — I’ll write a final six novels that brings all of the major characters together — Alex, Ivy, Ozzie. It will be explosive and gut-wrenching…in a way that will leave you breathless. At least that’s my hope.

Starting with IN The End (Nov. 10 release), I’ll be launching a new book every 2-4 weeks. IN The End will segue into the Ozzie Novak Thrillers. ON Edge (book 1), is due out on November 28. From there, it will be non-stop suspense until all six Ozzie books are released. And my editor tells me that Ozzie Novak is my best character yet.:) So, I hope you’re ready for some thrilling binge-reading.

The Knowing by Ninie Hammon

The Knowing: Book One

It starts with a school shooting.
It ends with the return of an evil as ancient as the skeleton of the universe.

In the middle, normal garden-variety people must figure out how to live their everyday lives—how to survive!—after they discover that all those childhood horror stories … well, most of them are true.

When the hot call comes over the radio: “Code Red! Active shooter at Carlisle Elementary School,” Police Sergeant Jack Carpenter has only one job: find the gunman; take him out. Carpenter rushes into the school, fully armed and focused on cold, hard reality. But what happens to him in the next few hours shatters the world as he has always known it. And in the next three days, everything Jack Carpenter believes about himself, about life and reality, about good and evil and the whole nature of the universe will be challenged.

Can it possibly be true—seriously?—that invisible monsters prowl among us every day?

That there exists in the real world a winged creature more horrifying than any Hollywood-animated, computer-generated, mechanical unreality?

And that the single-minded mission of that beast—a creation of absolute, soul-less evil—is to kill Jack Carpenter?

That’s crazy! Fairy-tale-science-fiction-horror-movie-bogeyman crap!

Bottom line: it flat-out cannot possibly be true.

But it is.

In this first book in The Knowing Trilogy, award winning journalist and bestselling suspense and thriller author Ninie Hammon begins a sprawling tale of spiritual warfare that spans a quarter of a century. If you enjoy terrifying dark psychic suspense coupled with characters who feel like family, The Knowing will open up for you a world you absolutely do not want to believe is real. But it is.
